Philanthropy – Domestic Violence and Prevention

 

Alpha Chi Omega has always been devoted to actively participating in the community, helping others, and more specifically lending a hand to their own. As sisters of Alpha Chi Omega in the Zeta Theta chapter, we are passionate women who constantly look for ways to support our community and give back. We focus our energy and attention on increasing the awareness about domestic violence, the destruction it causes to individuals, families, and children, as well as actively aiding victims of domestic violence. Furthermore, we strongly believe that by raising awareness against this issue we can spread the message of domestic violence prevention, and slowly work to create a safer community for women.

 

As part of our service, we continuously look for creative ways to engage the Brown community and spread the word about the negative impact that domestic violence has on so many women around us. As Vice President of Philanthropy of the Zeta Theta chapter I am pleased to announce that we successfully fundraise and donate money to the Women’s Center of RI throughout the year, while holding fun and informative events to actively educate our peers about this issue.

 

Reaching out to our Brown community has proven to be truly rewarding. The compassion for this cause, extends beyond our chapter, and is truly supported by our community members. It is particularly refreshing and humbling to see the genuine interest and involvement of our fellow fraternities, further expanding the network of allies for our cause.
